AI FILMFEST ATHENS 2026: “Myths Meet Machine” — Where Ancient Storytelling Meets the Future of Cinema. Athens prepares to welcome Greece’s first international film festival dedicated exclusively to AI-generated and AI-assisted cinema.
Athens is preparing to become a meeting point for cinema, artificial intelligence and creative innovation as AI FILMFEST ATHENS 2026 takes place on November 6, 2026, at The Ellinikon Experience Centre.
Under the powerful theme “Myths Meet Machine,” the first edition of AI FILMFEST ATHENS brings together filmmakers, artists, technologists and creative innovators from around the world to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming the language of filmmaking and storytelling.
A New Chapter in Cinema
Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the way stories are imagined, produced and experienced. AI FILMFEST ATHENS places this transformation at the centre of its programme, showcasing innovative short films while creating space for discussions, workshops and professional exchange.
The festival creates an international platform where filmmakers, artists, technology experts and creative innovators can meet and explore the future of cinematic storytelling.
“Myths Meet Machine”
The festival’s central theme connects the ancient foundations of storytelling with the newest technologies of visual creation.
Greece has played a historic role in the development of narrative culture. From Homer’s epics and Greek mythology to Aristotle’s Poetics and ancient theatre, Athens has long been associated with humanity’s exploration of storytelling.
AI FILMFEST ATHENS asks a fascinating contemporary question: What happens when the oldest traditions of storytelling meet the newest generation of creative technology?

Cinema, Technology and Creative Innovation
The programme brings together cinema screenings, professional discussions, presentations and creative exchanges designed to examine the rapidly evolving relationship between artificial intelligence and filmmaking.
